I created this tutorial for TikTok and I’m sharing it here for you too! This is a quick video guide, but if you would like to reference the steps in text just scroll down where I’ve written the steps out for you. I hope this helps you in your next cosplay!
@catchancosplay here's how I painted my boots for my recent Riamu costume. These help up really well after a full 8 hours stomping around A-kon 👍 #cosplaydiy #cosplaytutorial #shoepainting #angeluspaint #riamuyumemicosplay #cosplaytips #idolmastercosplay #akonconvention #CapCut ♬ Aesthetic – Megacreate
How to paint leather or faux leather shoes for cosplay
- Clean and deglaze the shoes you plan to pain. You can either use rubbing alcohol or the Angelus deglazer
- If you need to paint the soles of your shoes you will need the color of your choice in Angelus leather paint as well as the 2-Hard additive. Follow the instructions on the additive and mix with your paint. It can take up to 4 coats to cover, depending on the colors you chose and your base shoe. Go for many thin coats.
- For the leather or faux leather part of your shoe I recommend a white base coat or Angelus leather paint if you are going from a dark base to a light finished color. 2-3 coats for the base. Once you have the base done you will do 3-4 coat of your chosen color.
- Use an Angelus top coat on anything you painted, this will help protect your paint job.
That’s it! It’s pretty easy and the paint is flexible and holds up well.
