Character: Umi Sonoda
Series: LoveLive! School Idol Festival
Version: Korekara no Someday
Debut: A-kon 2015

I started working on Korekara no Someday Umi back in January for a group that was supposed to debut at Anime Matsuri this year. Unfortunately that fell through, but I went ahead and finished this costume up to wear to A-kon. Originally this was not one of my favorite outfits, I probably wouldn’t have picked it without a group BUT it turned out being amazingly comfortable and fun to wear so I’m really glad to have this one in my arsenal.

For this costume I used mostly altered commercial patterns. The tailcoat vest is modified from a blazer pattern. I made a mock up to get the front opening correct as well as add on the tails. It’s made of a casa satin shell and cotton sateen lining. The blouse is an altered peplum top pattern. The pattern originally had some seaming on the chest so I combined that so it was one piece. The peplum was also originally pleated in the pattern, but I gathered it for my costume. I drafted the collar.

The bloomers are made using the pattern I drafted for my Prince Sakura costume. I was lucky enough to find a khaki suiting with a very subtle stripe pattern. This saved me a ton of time when I was adding all of the yellow bias stripes, I didn’t have to measure anything for spacing. I added these bias stripes using pre-purchased single fold bias tape and heat n bond tape. I applied the bias with the head n bond, then top stitched everything down. I flat lined these with a few layers of netting, then lined them with some broad cloth for comfort. The openings are just gathered with elastic.

The accessories were all purchased due to time constraints, but hey, if you can find a pair of accurate bunny ears with metallic pink accents on amazon why make them yourself?
